Petro contributes over $48,000 to support U.S. Troops
July 27, 2007 -- El Paso, Texas – July 24, 2007 – Petro Stopping Centers (Petro) announced the results of its recent promotion to raise money for the USO and presented a check for $48,842 to the United Services Organization (USO) at the Fort Bliss, Texas USO Club. Petro pledged one dollar to the USO for every Chicken Fried Steak dinner ordered in the month of May and also sold “I Support our Troops” window clings with all proceeds going to the USO.
“Our customers and employees demonstrated their deep support and appreciation for our military forces with the money that was raised in this effort,” said David McClure, Marketing Director for Petro Stopping Centers. “I think it helped that we tied our corporate contributions to the sale of our Chicken Fried Steak Dinner as it is an All-American favorite.”
In acknowledging the contribution, Kathy Mejasich, Vice President of Corporate Alliances for the USO stated, “We gratefully accept this check on behalf of the service men and women we support. These funds will greatly assist as we work through USO units all over the world to improve the morale and well-being of our U.S. military personnel and their families. It is very satisfying and encouraging to partner with companies like Petro as they help fund the USO.” She added, “And those USO decals will be out there for a long time as friendly reminders of what the USO is all about.”
