October 12, 2005 -- EL PASO, TEXAS - Petro Stopping Centers will make a contribution of $126,456 to the American Red Cross to aid the victims of Hurricanes Katrina and Rita and the ongoing recovery efforts. The contribution is made up of a $50,000 cash contribution from Petro Stopping Centers, L.P., a matching gift from the ExxonMobil Corporation, and monies collected from customers and employees during a September fund raising effort at Petro's 62 travel centers.
Two communities where Petro operates; Hammond, Louisiana and Beaumont, Texas, were hit hard by the severity of these storms, and many of our employees are suffering as a result," said Petro President Jim Cardwell. "We felt that a contribution to the American Red Cross was the most effective way for us to participate in the recovery effort. We also want to thank all our customers and employees who made personal contributions as part of our fund raising effort."
